There is a feeling among the general public that scientists are alien beings with peculiar temperaments and strange behaviours, with their heads in the clouds. This book is a collection of humorous anecdotes about famous scientists that shows their human side. The anecdotes highlight various aspects of the personalities of scientists their childlike innocence, sense of humour, absentmindedness, and humanity. The book is the English version of the Kannada original Vijnaanigalodane Rasanimishagalu, written by J. R. Lakshmana Rao. Cartoons by the famous cartoonist of yesteryears, B. V. Ramamurthy, popularly known as Murthy, embellish the stories. Vijnaanigalodane Rasanimishagalu has seen more than a dozen reprints. J. R. Lakshmana Rao (1921 2017) was a professor of Chemistry at Yuvaraja's College, Mysore. He later served as the Chief Editor of the English-Kannada Dictionary, and the editor of the quarterly science magazine Vijnana Karnataka (1969-1977) of the Mysore University. He was one of the founders of Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat and served as its Vice President and President. He edited its monthly children's science magazine 'Bala Vijnana' for more than a decade. He has authored more than thirty books related to science, including several translations. J. L. Anil Kumar is an engineer by profession. His career was mainly at Kirloskar Electric, Mysore and Philips India, Bangalore. He retired in 2015 and is now a consultant in the field of Intellectual Property. His many interests include music, drawing, watercolour painting, writing, and translating a few of his short stories have appeared in the Kannada magazine Hosathu published by Navakarnataka.
